In an unexpected turn of events, International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-flyweight champion Mpumelelo ‘The Boss’ Tshabalala signed with Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan’s NO DOUBT Management in Wednesday morning.
Apparently, the frustration over the continuous postponement of Tshabalala’s fights led his manager Vusi Malinga to seek help from Nathan. That led to them entering into a partnership with the NO DOUBT Management.
“I told myself that let me give ‘Nomakanjani’ a chance because it’s been too long since I have been fighting,” Tshabalala remarked.
Tshabalala is yet to defend his IBO since winning it after he defeated Argentine boxer Junior Leandro Zarate in September last year.
Malinga made it clear that he was looking for better opportunities and aiming for a better future for Tshabalala.
“I think it is time for him to grow. I, myself, fought for legitimate titles with the IBF and WBC and want the same for my boy,” Malinga said.
Tshabalala came into Nathan’s office with arguably one of the most famous boxing families, the Malingas in Vusi, Peter and Patrick. All three brothers held the South African titles at various stages of their careers and were highly successful in their respective careers.
“It’s great to be working with the Malingas, whom I only have fond memories of watching fight and guiding them with Tshabalala’s career,” Nathan said.
