Kaizer Chiefs confirmed the signing of Mthatha-born forward Khanyisa Mayo from Algerian side Belouizdad on Friday evening.
The 27-year-old Mayo returned home after spending one season at Belouizdad following his transfer from Cape Town City last year.
“It’s no secret that we wanted to bring Khanyisa to Naturena before his move to Algeria. He has a proven track record in the league, and we believe he will add significant value to the squad this season when we play in the league, as well as on the continent,” Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Junior said.
“He joins a select group of athletes who’ve made their families proud by following in their footsteps. We are truly happy to have him here and wish him all the best.”
The former Richards Bay FC striker followed in the footsteps of his father Patrick Mayo, who played for Amakhosi between 2003 and 2007.
