After doing very well in the last three rounds of the WBC Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia, Ntethelelo ‘Baby G’ Nkosi is just two wins away from being crowned the competition’s junior-welterweight champion.
The former South African junior-welterweight titlist is now going to be opposed by unbeaten Carlos Alfonso Utria Lopez from Colombia in the semi-finals of the competition in Riyadh on Sunday, 19 October.
Nkosi counts Fiorenzo Priolo from Italy, Chinese Ju Wu and Marwan Mohammad Madboly from Egypt as his victims in the previous three rounds of the competition. Mtubatuba-born Nkosi will take a record of 10 wins with five knockouts and two defeats to the Utria fight.
Since the beginning of the competition, the 22-year-old Utria, who has won all his 12 fights, with 10 of those wins being stoppages, has beaten Spencer Wilcox, Alan David Crenz and Elianel Guerrero.
