Struggling Siwelele FC announced on Sunday afternoon that they had released their chief executive officer Stanley Matthews and the club’s assistant coach Andre Arendse.

Matthews has since been replaced by Lerato Kholoanyane while former Orlando Pirates and Bloemfontein Celtic defender Willem Jackson has joined the team as assistant coach.

“In light of what is currently happening in the team, the management of the team decided it’s time to restructure and rebuild the team and turn it into a force to be reckoned with,” Siwelele chairperson Calvin le John said.

“It is, therefore, important to make changes where necessary.  We, therefore, make a public and official statement that Mr Stan Matthews, who was the CEO of Siwelele FC, and the assistant coach Mr Andre Arendse have been released from their duties and are no longer part of Siwelele FC. I cannot keep them on board when their lives and their families’ lives are being threatened on a daily basis. We would like to thank them for their contribution and wish them well in their respective future endeavours.”

Le John concluded: “We are going to terminate the contracts of various players, who have not shown the heart and willingness to fight for the team. The team is on the verge of signing at least five or six experienced players to beef up the squad.”
