Mamelodi Sundowns are back on top of the Betway Premiership standings after they beat Richards Bay FC 4-1 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville west of Pretoria on Saturday evening.

Tashreeq Matthews gave the Brazilians the lead as he scored his fourth goal of the season from a Nuno Santos pass in the 15th minute.

Sundowns defender Malibongwe Prince Khoza, who is 21 years old, added the second goal 12 minutes later.

Veteran Malawian Gabadinho Mhango halved the deficit when he beat Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams in the 30th minute.

Sundowns star forward Iqraam Rayners converted a penalty to make it 3-1 four minutes before the half-time break and Matthews grabbed his second goal in the 62nd minute.

Elsewhere, Durban City came from behind to embarrass Magesi FC 3-1 in a match played at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.

The visitors shot to the lead through Wonderboy Makhubu in the 29th minute.

Samkelo Maseko equalised for City five minutes into the second half. City led for the first time when Saziso Magawana scored in the 78th minute and Letsie Koapeng added the third goal 10 minutes later.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune United lost for the first time this season as they were beaten 1-0 by Polokwane City through Mokibelo Ramabu’s goal at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane in b earlier match.
