Veteran boxer Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni is pencilled to travel to Montreal, Canada, for a fight against Colombian opponent Jhon Elin Orobio Siniestra next month.

This World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas junior-welterweight title contest between Ndongeni and Orobio is going to be held at the Montreal Casino, Montreal, on Thursday, 13 November (Friday, 14 November, South African time).

“I’m fighting on the 13 November in Montreal, Canada. I’ve got time to get in peak shape and I’m training harder than ever,” the 35-year-old Ndongeni wrote on Facebook.

The last time Ndongeni from KwaBhaca in the Eastern Cape boxer fought he lost to Armenian Hovhannes Bachkov in July. On the other hand, Orobio defeated Ivan Basurto Monroy in the first defence of his WBC Continental Americas junior-welterweight title last month.

Ndongeni, a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) and South African lightweight champion, is a battle-scarred warrior with 33 victories, 19 knockouts and seven defeats.

The 22-year-old Orobio, meanwhile, is yet to taste defeat, having won all his 15 fights and registered 13 stoppages in the process. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
