After facing some hiccups around his departure for Mexico, where he has a date with Mexican boxer Sergio Alfonso Mendoza Cordova, Mpumelelo Tshabalala will finally fly out of South Africa for the Central American country on Monday evening.
Tshabalala and his team were due to depart for Mexico on Saturday evening, however they couldn’t leave after they were turned away at the OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park because they didn’t have United Kingdom transit visas.
Now Tshabalala, who fights against Cordova in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout in Hermosillo on Saturday (Sunday morning, South African time), leaves for Mexico together with Vusi Malinga on Monday evening while Thami and Peter Malinga will follow.
“Mpumelelo is the most important person here. He leaves for Mexico together with Vusi on Monday evening. Patrick and Peter are going to follow,” NO DOUBT Management’s Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan, who manages Tshabalala, revealed.
The winner of this duel between Tshabalala and Cordova will get a chance to challenge current IBF junior-flyweight champion Thanongsak Simsri from Thailand. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
