There are no permanent enemies in boxing and that has been proved by promoter Rodney Berman and Colin Nathan, who are back together after being separated for more than seven years.

Signs that Berman and Nathan were coming together became obvious when they shared the same stage during a Golden Gloves press conference at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Tuesday in the build-up to Saturday’s tournament.

Berman said to Nathan: “Colin, please come and sit. I want you to know you are welcome here. You are a very big part of boxing.”

South African middleweight champion Phikelelani Khumalo, who is managed by Nathan’s NO DOUBT Management, faces off against African Boxing Union (ABU) titlist Donjuan van Heerden in one of the bouts at the Golden Gloves tournament on Saturday.

“Golden Gloves gave me so many opportunities and together we had so much success. It was great chatting with Rodney and Tessa after all these years,” Nathan remarked.

Previously, Berman was known as a father like figure and mentor to Nathan before they fell out.

  1. This is a good gesture .One hand can’t clap and one foot can’t run. We need each other for the betterment of our boxing .
