Hloks Ramagole can stand on top of the mountain and claim the bragging rights as Gauteng was head and shoulders above other provinces when it came to hosting boxing tournaments this year.
The Boxing South Africa (BSA) manager in Gauteng, Free State and the North West supervised 29 tournaments in 2025. And these tournaments proved once again that the Gauteng is, indeed, a home of boxing.
“It has truly been a remarkable year for boxing in Gauteng. From January to December 2025, I had the privilege of supervising 29 tournaments a milestone that once again proved why Gauteng remains the province to beat,” Ramagole bragged.
“Other provinces came swinging, but Gauteng kept reminding everyone, we are not chasing the pack, we are the pace. Our young talent also rose to the occasion.”
It was also Ramagole, who oversaw Legacy Boxing Promotions’ maiden tournament where 7900 people converged at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria seven months ago.
“The standout was the first of May at Sun Arena, a night carved into our history books. A South African WBC world champion defending his title at home. Kevin ‘Two Guns’ Lerena delivered a performance that echoed through the arena and set a new benchmark,” Ramagole said.
“And of course, Golden Gloves deserves a special shout-out. After decades in the game, they remain relevant and still matching competitively. Longevity with quality is rare, but they continue to prove why their name still carries weight.”
Ramagole further said: “It would also be wrong not to salute Boxing 5, Warrior Ascent and Aquila Boxing Promotions for championing development and driving consistent activity throughout the year.
“We closed the year with fresh fire from two new promoters who elevated the landscape. Terry-Anne Hart of Fight Club Promotions delivered a confident debut at Silver Lake while Joyleene Mahanetsa of VIP Promotions made waves with her ‘Bringing Sexy Back’ concept, blending fashion and boxing to pull in a new audience and remind everyone that boxing can be athletic, artistic and cultural at the same time.”
