Premium promotional outfit Golden Gloves is going start off 2026 as it ended last year having scheduled a tournament for the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday, 28 March.

Golden Gloves has unveiled the line-up of its “Sole Survivor” with the final of the “Survivor” between Brandon Thysse and Roarke Knapp headlining the seven-bout show as they will fight for the vacant light-heavyweight title.

“It has all the ingredients for boxing lovers, with big money and intrigue on the line,” Golden Gloves managing director Rodney Berman said.

A lot is expected from the fight between Thysse and Knapp, especially with the winner taking home the lion’s share, 60 percent, of the R1,2-million prize pot.

This is the same tournament where Siyakholwa Kuse will face off against Filipino boxer Joey Canoy in a World Boxing Council (WBC) strawweight elimination bout.

A win will offer Kuse yet another chance to challenge current WBC strawweight champion Melvin Jerusalem, who outpointed him in Manila, Philippines, in October last year.

Already, Berman has made it clear that he will bring Jerusalem to the Emperors Palace should Kuse overcome Canoy.

Meanwhile, greenhorns Jose Kadima, Sanele Sogcwayi, Ethan Peters and Leo Careri are going to be in action during the March tournament.
