Less than six months after he joined Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan’s NO DOUBT Management, the contract between the company and Mpumelelo Tshabalala has since been terminated.

A late payment of Tshabalala’s purse following his loss to Mexican boxer Sergio Alfonso Mendoza Cordova in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout in Mexico triggered the separation between Nathan and the Katlehong-based boxer.

It took Tshabalala three weeks before he received his fight purse from BXSTRS Promotions chief executive officer Juan Carlos Torres something which didn’t go down well with the Malinga brothers – Vusi, Thami and Peter – who are his handlers. Nathan was Tshabalala’s co-manager with Vusi Malinga.

Tshabalala, who is a former South African and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-flyweight champion, said: “It’s true that the contract has been terminated. I didn’t expect that to happen.”

Contacted for comment, Nathan said: “It’s correct. We have terminated our contract. What happen was an honest mistake from the promoter. And to prove that, Landile Ngxeke was paid within a week after his fight. I wish Tshabalala and the Malingas all the best.” – Monwabisi Jimlongo
