After it became clear that his vacant South African junior-welterweight title fight against Sibusiso Zingange was no longer going to happen, East London boxer Aphiwe ‘Swagger’ Boyiya decided to look for action elsewhere.
Suspiciously jinxed, the SA title fight had been a victim of constant postponements since July last year and now Boyiya is set to travel outside South Africa in order for him to get some ring action.
Boyiya is scheduled to fight against Botswana national Kutlwano Ogaketse. This vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All-Africa junior-welterweight title contest is set for the Gaborone International Conference Centre (GICC) on Friday, 1 May.
The former SA featherweight and junior-lightweight champion’s next fight was confirmed to Ink Sport by his manager Kholisile ‘KC’ Cengani. The bout against Ogaketse is going to be Boyiya’s first fight since his win over Lindokuhle Dlamini in November 2024.
On the other hand, Ogaketse from Gaborone has not laced his gloves since he defeated former SA junior-welterweight champion Prince Dlomo last October.
