Trainer Thembani ‘Best’ Gopheni is ready to unleash his boxers as they are going to fight at a KM Sports Promotions and Events tournament at the OR Tambo Hall in Mthatha on Saturday.
Leading the charge will be Sinovuyo Mthintelwa, who is going to face off against Luxolo Gumgutho from Nxarhuni in the main bout of the tournament. Mthatha-born Mthintelwa and Gungutho will clash in a vacant Eastern Cape flyweight title contest over 10 rounds.
Gopheni’s other boxer Lusizo Manzana faces Michael Daries from Kirkwood in a bantamweight bout over eight rounds while Awonke Tini engages Sihle Booi in an all-Duncan Village six rounder.
“We have done everything at training while preparing for our fights. All my boxers are ready for the tournament,” Gopheni remarked.
The six-bout tournament will see a mini-flyweight female fight between Sinalo Mtolo from Duncan Village and Mdantsane’s Namhla Mankayi with Sandiso Booi clashing with Liyabona Lele while Banele Gceba faces Sandile Lolwana.
