Stellenbosch FC confirmed the strengthening of their squad with the signing of three players – Shakeel April, Wonderboy Makhubu and Asekho Tiwani – on Friday evening.

“Stellenbosch FC is delighted to announce the signings of Shakeel April from Cape Town City, Wonderboy Makhubu from Sekhukhune United and Asekho Tiwani, on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns,” a Stellies statement said.

Stellies chief executive officer Rob Benadie added: “We are pleased to conclude the January transfer window by welcoming Shakeel, Wonderboy and Asekho to the club.

“We believe that these signings, together with those who arrived earlier in the month, have strengthened our squad in key areas and will provide us with a significant boost in the second half of the season.”

April and Tiwani joined Stellies as two of the country’s brightest prospects after helping South Africa lift the CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations trophy and starring at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile last year.

Makhubu, meanwhile, arrived as an experienced attacking option, having scored 15 goals in 38 league appearances while on loan from Sekhukhune United at Magesi FC over the last two-and-a-half seasons.
