There’s nothing to defend for Kaizer Chiefs after Stellenbosch FC bundled them out of the Nedbank Cup with a 2-1 score line at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The side from the Cape Winelands led 2-0 at half-time after Ibraheem Jabaar had given them the lead in the 10th minute and Devin Titus added the second goal in the 23rd minute. Amakhosi’s hopes were lifted when Flavio da Silva netted for them four minutes before the hour mark.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns are also through to the second round of the Nedbank Cup following a 2-1 win over Gomora United at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

The two sides were tied 1-1 at half-time after the Brazilians had led with Namibian international Peter Shalulile’s goal before Gomora levelled matters through Mpho Welcome Maoke in referee’s added time. Thapelo Morena scored the Tshwane giants’ winning goal in the 61st minute.
