The cash-strapped South African Football Association (SAFA) announced on Monday afternoon that it had secured Standard Bank as its new sponsor.
The four-year Standard Bank sponsorship, which was announced in Rosebank, Johannesburg, is going to cover all national teams.
“This partnership reflects the kind of investment that South African football needs. Standard Bank’s support will strengthen the competitiveness of our national teams and development structures as they represent our country on the continental and world stage,” SAFA president Danny Jordaan said.
Standard Bank is not new to football sponsorship as it has been sponsoring Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and their arvh-rivals Orlando Pirates for more than two decades.
