Even though Asekho Nocele fully understands that he will be coming up against an experienced opponent in his next fight, he, however, is confident that he’s got the beating of Sabelo Ngebiyane.

Nocele is due to fight against the former South African junior-bantamweight champion at the Cabo Beach, V and A Waterfront, in Cape Town, on Saturday, 18 April.

“We are ready for this fight having been training for more than two months now. We don’t underestimate our opponent, however, we believe that we are going to win this fight,” Mthatha-born Nocele remarked.

Rated in third position by Boxing South Africa (BSA) in the bantamweight division, Nocele has revealed that he would love to challenge current champion Landile Ngxeke one day.

“I see that no one is challenging for the SA title at the moment. And I have not decided on challenging for the SA title as well even though I would love to fight for it one day. I fear no one in this division and would grab that opportunity with both hands should I be given a chance to fight for the title,” Nocele said.

Sitting at nine wins with six knockouts, Nocele, who is trained by Mzuvukile Magwaza, last fought when he defeated Saul Hlungwani in October while Ngebiyane outpointed Congolese boxer Ardy Katompa in December following three straight losses.

Ngebiyane from Komani in the Eastern Cape is a veteran boxer, who has registered 16 victories with 11 stoppages, 12 defeats and three draws. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
