After going separate ways three years ago, boxing trainer, Khangelani Jack, and Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha are back working together yet again as the world champion has decided against returning to Cape Town.
Tyirha, the current International Boxing Organisation (IBO) minimumweight champion, returned to his Mdantsane home in KuGompo City after spending five months training under Saligh Dollie in Diep River, Cape Town.
While training under Dollie, Tyirha defeated Nhlakanipho Kunene to win the IBO title at the Jan Smuts Stadium, KuGompo City, in May.
“He’s training with us. We have been training together for a month now. We are working very hard even though we don’t have a date yet. It’s good to train all the time and remain fit, especially when you are a world champion,” Jack said.
Jack and Tyirha separated in 2023 as the award-winning trainer trekked to Gauteng where he trained boxers. Their separation followed after Malawian George Kandulo stunned Tyirha with a sixth round stoppage at the International Convention Centre (ICC), KuGompo City, early in July 2023. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
