It goes without saying that SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler would have been far in his football career if it were not for the injuries, which hampered his progress.

But despite that, Grobler has managed to surpass Matsatsantsa a Pitori’s club record of the most goals scored (57), which was previous held by the late Abraham Raselemane.

Benoni-born Grobler is now Matsatsantsa a Pitori’s all-time top goal scorer with 58 goals. Grobler scored his 10th goal of the current season when Matsatsantsa beat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 in a DStv Premiership fixture at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday evening.

Matsatsantsa’s other goal was netted by Thamsanqa Gabuza while Victor Letsoalo scored for Celtic.

‘‘Yeah, it’s an unbelievable feeling. I think when people mentioned the 57 goals it seemed so far away at the time. I think I was six goals away,’’ Grobler said.

‘‘Now that I equalled it last week I thought to myself that it could be the toughest to break. Fortunately, it happened today.’’

Grobler is grateful to Matsatsantsa bosses for not losing faith in him even when injuries were having the better of him.

‘‘As I say in many interviews the club has done a lot for me over the years. They have done a lot for me, they stuck with me through thick and thin in my injuries. This is just my way to repay the club for the
faith they have shown in me. This is a very prestigious club, I’m honoured to have achieved that,’’ Grobler said.

The former Ajax Cape Town and Platinum Stars marksman, who is the son of Moroka Swallows and PG Rangers legend Les Grobler, is going to turn 33 on 25 January
