Qualifying for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup has brought some joy in the Orlando Pirates camp.
The Buccaneers reached the group stages following a 4-0 aggregate win over Botswana side Jwaneng Galaxy. Bucs beat Galaxy 1-0 through a Linda Mntambo goal at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Sunday.
Coach Josef Zinnbauer’s boys trounced Galaxy 3-0 away in a first leg match played in Botswana more than a week ago.
“Firstly, I’m happy we are now in the group stage. The result here was deserved. We had a lot of opportunities in the first half and in the second half. Defence was good, offensive was also good,” Zinnbauer said.
The German added that he loves playing continental football because it gives him a chance to gather information about other countries. He added that players also get new information and experience.
Next up for Pirates is a DStv Premiership away clash to SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday (17h00).
After that, Pirates will travel to the Harry Gwala Stadium for a Nedbank Cup second round date with Maritzburg United on Saturday (18h00)
