Chippa United goalkeeper Ismail Watenga hopes that they are going to transfer their Nedbank Cup run to DStv Premiership matches.
Watenga, who made his Chilli Boys debut recently, is desperate for three points as the struggling Eastern Cape club and Nedbank Cup finalists face Baroka FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Tuesday (15h00).
“Nedbank Cup was huge for us. I believe it’s gonna help us in the league. I know that it’s going to be tough against Baroka. We are gonna fight our way out,” Watenga said.
With the Chilli Boys occupying 15th spot on the Premiership table, Watenga fully understands the importance of achieving a positive result on Tuesday.
“We respect them. But we are in a tough situation as a club. We are going to fight to see that we survive relegation,” Watenga added.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Ugandan is grateful to get an opportunity to finally play at the Chilli Boys after warming the bench since arriving at the club in December.
“I’m very happy for getting this chance to play for Chippa United. I want to thank the coaches and everyone who believes in me,” he said.
