The pre-fight hype around Cape Town boxer Sinethemba Bam was just that – hype – and nothing else.
Mdantsane-born Lusanda Komanisi didn’t raise a sweat before stopping Bam in the first round at the Nutting Hall, Stirling, East London on Saturday afternoon.
Cape Town boxing supporters said a lot in the build-up to the fight and they even suggested that Bam was going to stop Komanisi.
However, the opposite happened as a stiff jab ended the fight before the judges had warmed their seats.
Meanwhile, Bangile Nyangani dethroned South African mini-flyweight champion Siyakholwa Kuse in the main bout. Nyangani from Mthatha scored a points victory over Kuse.
