South African swimmer Tatjana Schoenmaker set a new Olympic record in Tokyo, Japan, on Sunday.
Schoenmaker qualified for the semi-finals after she won her 100 metre breaststroke heat in 1:04.82. She smashed American Lilly King’s record, which she set at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
The 24-year-old Schoenmaker is now going to take part in the semi-finals at 02h50 on Monday morning (South African time).
