Maritzburg United have appointed 2016 Olympian Phumlani Ntshangase as their new captain.
The 26-year-old midfielder once played for Bidvest Wits where he made his professional debut. He also played for SuperSport United.
“I’m thankful first of all for being granted the opportunity to be one of the leaders for the coming season. I’m excited, but also not nervous,” Ntshangase said.
Ntshangase will wear the armband for the first time when the Team of Choice begin their 2021/22 campaign with a KwaZulu-Natal derby against Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Durban, on Saturday, 21 August.
