There is no stopping table-topping Mamelodi Sundowns even though they survived a scare from Royal AM during their 3-2 win in a DStv Premiership match at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Wednesday.

The Brazilians made their intentions clear as early as the sixth minute when Thabiso Kutumela netted following a defensive blunder by the visitors.

It looked like Royal AM were going to quickly come back when the scoreline was 1-0 at half-time. However, Peter Shalulile had other ideas as he scored his 10th goal of the season in the 65th minute.

The Namibian international completed his brace when he netted his 11th goal of the season to make it 3-0 for the Brazilians in the 72nd minute.

The Durban side pulled one back through their top goalscorer Victor Letsoalo nine minutes from full-time. Letsoalo made it 3-2 from the penalty spot after Rushine de Reuck handled inside the box in added time. Match referee Thando Ndzandzeka didn’t hesitate to award Royal AM the penalty.
