Royal AM coach John Maduka has praised his players after they scored a double against Kaizer Chiefs beating them for the second time this season following a 1-0 win in a DStv Premiership match at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Sunday.

Royal AM top goalscorer Victor Letsoalo netted from the penalty spot after Bernard Parker had fouled Zukile Mkhize inside the box. That was Letsoalo’s ninth goal of the season and his third against Amakhosi in two matches this term.

The Durban side beat Chiefs 4-1 in a first round match at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, earlier this season.

“Credit to the boys. They never stopped working, they worked so hard,” the Malawian-born coach said after the match.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic and Mthatha Bucks midfielder was happy that his team bagged three points from the match.

“It was good, especially playing at home. Whenever you play at home you have to make sure that you win the game,” Maduka said.

“Chiefs have been playing well, so we knew that it was gonna be very, very tough. Credit to the boys, they gave it all. We managed to get the points.”

Maduka and his boys travel to Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane for a date with struggling Baroka FC on Wednesday (17h00).
