World title challenger Thabiso ‘The Rock’ Mchunu can now see that there is no turning back after arriving in Ohio, United States, this past weekend.

Mchunu is going to challenge World Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the Packard Music Hall in Warren, Ohio, on Saturday, 29 (Sunday, 30 November in South African time).

The WBC Silver cruiserweight champion landed in the US together with his stablemate Thulani Mbenge, trainer Sean Smith, George Smith and Jerry Thomas after spending more than a week in Mexico City, Mexico.

And Sean has declared that the 33-year-old KwaXimba-born Mchunu is ready to clash with Makabu.

“We have been working very hard and Thabiso is ready for the fight,” Johannesburg-based Sean said from a snowing Ohio.

Meanwhile, Mchunu and Makabu will face each other for the first time on American soil when they address the media on Wednesday.
