Mamelodi Sundowns have set up as Nedbank Cup final date with Marumo Gallants at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg on Saturday, 28 May at 18h00.

This follows after the Tshwane giants beat Royal AM 2-1 in a semi-finals match at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.

After a goalless first half, Sundowns took the lead when left-back Aubrey Modiba scored from a free kick in the 62nd minute. Sundowns were awarded a free kick in the edge of the box after Thabo Matlaba had fouled Pavol Safranko.

Thwihli Thwahla equalised 10 minutes later when Matlaba, formerly with Swallows FC, Black Leopards and Orlando Pirates, atoned for giving away a free kick.

It only took three minutes for the Brazilians to restore their lead through Safranko, who capitalised on a mix-up between Thwihli Thwahla defender Tshepo Rikhotso and goalkeeper Patrick Nyame.
