Johannesburg-based boxing trainer Bernie Pailman is not worried about his boxer Ronald Malindi meeting Rofhiwa Nemushungwa this coming month.

Malindi is scheduled to defend his South African bantamweight title against Nemushungwa at the Steve Tshwete Banquet Hall in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, on Friday, 8 July.

“I’m not worried about Nemushungwa. My boy is already on 55kg, you can see that preparations went accordingly when I was away in Mexico,” Pailman said.

Malindi has not fought since he defended his title against Lwandile Sityata at the Orient Theatre in East London in March 2020. Again, that does not worry Pailman.

“That is not a problem. We are going to win this fight, there’s no two ways about that,” Pailman said.

Pailman was in Hekkie Budler’s corner assisting Colin Nathan when the former world champion outpointed Mexican Elwin Soto in a World Boxing Council (WBC) junior-flyweight elimination bout in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on Sunday morning (South African time).
