AmaZulu have advanced to the semi-finals of the MTN8 after they beat Cape Town City 2-1 at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday
Augustine Kwem and Lehlohonolo Majoro scored for Usuthu while Khanyisa Mayo netted for the Citizens.
Kwem, who joined AmaZulu from TS Galaxy, gave Usuthu the lead in the ninth minute.
Usuthu’s lead was cancelled by Mthatha-born Mayo when he equalised for the Citizens on the stroke of half-time.
The match went into extra time after the two sides were tied 1-1 in regulation time. Majoro netted Usuthu’s second goal in the 113th minute to make sure coach Brandon Truter’s team advanced to the last four of the competition.
