Kaizer Chiefs continue to own the bragging rights after they beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 in a Soweto derby at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Saturday afternoon.

Pirates had a bright start to the match taking the game to Chiefs, but failed to penetrate the Amakhosi defence.

Chiefs slowly came back into the match and were the better team in the last 15 minutes of the first half. Amakhosi striker Ashley du Preez failed to beat Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane on two occasions.

The only goal of the match came in the 75th minute after Yusuf Maart sent a shot from his own half and beat Mpontshane, who was off his line.

This was the fourth straight derby victory for Amakhosi against their fierce rivals. Chiefs have moved to third spot on the Premiership standings.

Meanwhile, this was more like a warm-up match for Bucs ahead of next Saturday’s MTN8 final against AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
