South African boxer Sabelo Ngebiyana admitted on Sunday that Namibian Fillipus Nghitumbwa was too powerful for him.

The 26-year-old Nghitumbwa defeated Ngebiyana to successfully defend his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Global junior-bantamweight title at the Ramatex Hall in Windhoek, Namibia, on Saturday evening.

Seeing that their boxer was in real trouble as Nghitumbwa continued to land bomb after bomb, Ngebiyana’s corner threw in the towel in the 11th round saving him from further punishment.

It’s not like the Komani-born Ngebiyana didn’t give his all during the fight. It’s just that Nghitumbwa was giving more than he was getting from Ngebiyana.

“The guy was too powerful. He is a very strong boxer. He didn’t even feel my punches. I’m going to come back stronger after this loss,” Ngebiyana said.

This was the former South African junior-bantamweight champion’s first loss this year having registered a fifth round stoppage of Briton Ashley Sexton in London in April and then went on to become the first boxer to defeat previously unbeaten Mzuvukile Magwaca in Sandton, Johannesburg, three months ago.
