Scenery Park-based boxer Khanyile ‘Man Dee’ Bulana, his trainer Kholisile ‘KC’ Cengani, assistant trainer Lonwabo Witbooi will go straight to the fight venue when they arrive in Cape Town on Friday.

Former South African featherweight champion Bulana, Cengani and Witbooi are booked on a 15h25 flight from East London to Cape Town on Friday.

They were due to have travelled to the Mother City on Thursday, a day before Bulana challenges South African junior-lightweight champion Lunga Sitemela at the Vibrant Sports Centre in Ottery, Cape Town.

However, they couldn’t leave for the Mother City after they struggled to secure flight tickets from East London to Cape Town.

“We have received our tickets. They were sent to us on Thursday night and I was already sleeping when they were sent. We are going there to fight. There will be no rest, for us,” Cengani said on Friday morning.

Fight promoter Jackie Brice of Jackie Brice Boxing Promotions said: “I don’t blame them for missing the flight because they only received the tickets late instead of having them on Monday. There was a delay from my sponsors, the Department of Sport. I’m happy that everything is sorted now and the fight will carry on.”

Meanwhile, this is going to be Bulana’s first fight since he lost to former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-lightweight champion Michael Magnesi in April last year.

On the other hand, Sitemela is making his first defence of the national title he won when he defeated Sibusiso Zingange in May this year.
