It has turned out that the promotional contract between current South African champion Lusanda ‘Mexican’ Komanisi and Happy Tewo of Tewo Boxing Promotions expired in September.

This came to light after Mncedisi Ngqumba from Boxing South Africa (BSA) sent a letter to Komanisi informing him that his contract with Tewo Boxing Promotions expired in September and that there was no need for termination because of that.

Komanisi had asked BSA to help terminate his contract with the East London-based promoter and complained saying that Tewo had not billed him for the Sunday, 11 December tournament, which has since been called off.

The former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion fought three times – against Siphenathi Qampi, Sinethemba Bam and Kabelo Bikitsha – under Tewo’s promotional outfit.

His only two fights this year, which were against Amani Bariki from Tanzania and Tshifhiwa Munyai, were promoted by Mama Rocks Promotions and Golden Gloves respectively.

Meanwhile, Komanisi from Mdantsane has revealed that he’s going to fight under Golden Gloves in February next year.
