Maritzburg United own the KwaZulu-Natal bragging rights after they walloped Royal AM 3-1 in a DStv Premiership match at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday evening.

A build up from the back resulted in the Team of Choice getting the lead through Frenchman Amadou Soukouna in the 35th minute. The 30-year-old Soukouna completed his brace when he beat Thwihli Thwahla goalkeeper Patrick Nyame on the stroke of half-time.

The KwaZulu-Natal Midlands side made it 3-0 when Zambian-born striker Friday Samu scored in referee’s added time.

Mfundo Thikazi scored Thwihli Thwahla’s consolation goal just as match referee Cedric Muvhali was about to blow his whistle for full-time.
