Rassie van der Dussen was instrumental when the Proteas beat England by 27 runs in the first one day international (ODI) played at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on Friday evening.

Van der Dussen struck his fourth ODI century when he top scored with 111 runs from 117 balls while David Miller knocked 53 runs off 56 deliveries in the Proteas’ 298 for seven in their alloted 50 overs.

Needing 299 runs to win, England were bowled out for 271 with Jason Roy hitting 113 runs from 91 balls and Dawid Malan knocking 59 off 55 deliveries. 

Proteas bowlers Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala did very well taking four wickets for 62 and three for 46 respectively.  

Meanwhile, the second ODI between the teams is going to be played at the same Bloemfontein venue starting at 10am on Sunday.
