Mamelodi Sundowns’ unbeaten run continued as they defeated Sekhukhune United 2-0 in a DStv Premiership encounter at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday afternoon.

Following a goalless first half, the Brazilians started the second stanza with more purpose as they searched for a goal. Their forays into the Babina Noko box finally bore fruit when Peter Shalulile scored his ninth goal of the season following a pass from Gaston Sirino in the 50th minute.

The Tshwane giants were reduced to 10 men after match referee Thokozani Mkhize red carded Marcelo Allende for a bad tackle on Babina Noko striker Victor Letsoalo in the 76th minute.

Substitute Cassius Mailula ensured that Sundowns walked away with yet another victory as he netted the Brazilians’ second goal from a Thapelo Morena cross eight minutes from full-time.

The defending DStv Premiership champions have now stretched their unbeaten run to 14 games matching a record, which was set by Kaizer Chiefs 32 years ago. On the other hand, Sundowns snapped Babina Noko’s six-match unbeaten run.
