Marumo Gallants have made a number of changes in their technical team and have also announced that coach Daniel Malesela has been put on special leave, not fired.

Gallants took the steps after they only picked up two points in their last eight matches with their 2-0 loss to Orlando Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Phokeng, Rustenburg, being the last straw.

“Marumo Gallants has appointed an interim technical team for the club. Seasoned football coach Dylan Kerr will fill in an advisory position as a consultant, with assistant head coach Raymond Mdaka filling in as interim head coach. Kerr, Mdaka and Sly Mosala (co-coach of the club’s DDC team) will form Gallant’s interim technical management team, with immediate effect,” a  Gallants statement said on Monday.

The statement added: “The above changes come as current head coach Dan Malesela and technical director Harris Choeu embark on a special leave. This break will give Malesela and Choeu the opportunity to recoup energies and observe the team from a distance in order to objectively assess the causes of recent results and develop strategies to improve team performance going forward. Malesela remains head coach of Gallants.”
