Maritzburg United earned themselves a valuable win as they beat TS Galaxy 2-1 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday evening.

The match was only two minutes old when Ali Meza, formerly with Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns, put the Team of Choice ahead after he sent a long range shot into the net.

The Rockets didn’t lie down when they were trailing and they duly equalised through Bernard Parker in the 22nd minute after he received a pass from Kamogelo Sebelebele.

The Team of Choice restored their lead when Amadou Aoukouna converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time. Match refereee Jelly Chavani awarded the Team of Choice a penalty after Tshegofatso Nyama had handled inside the box.

Meanwhile, Lamontville Golden Arrows were held to a goalless draw by Sekhukhune United at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Durban, in an earlier match.
