Sanele Magwaza defeated Malawian Grey Chimkwapulo to become the new World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental junior-featherweight champion during a fight held at the Wells Estate Multipurpose Centre in Gqeberha on Sunday evening. 

The 27-year-old Magwaza, who is based in Gqeberha, won the bout by a split decision at a tournament, which was promoted by Mbali Zantsi’s Showtime Boxing Productions. 

Meanwhile, Owethu Rula from Gqeberha outpointed Mthatha’s Emihle Ntunja to win the vacant Eastern Cape female flyweight title in the main supporting bout. 

On the other hand, Bathabile Ziqubu defeated Zimbabwean Revai Madondo by a majority decision to win the vacant WBF Africa female junior-bantamweight crown.
