Former world champion DeeJay Kriel is not going to take part in Saturday’s tournament, which is scheduled to be held at the UNISA Conference Centre in Ormonde, Johannesburg. 

The latest developments followed after the 27-year-old Kriel’s opponent Sandeep Kumar from India encountered visa problems and couldn’t make it to South Africa for the tournament. 

Now the erstwhile International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight champion’s fight against the 29-year-old Kumar from Gurgaon in India has been postponed to next month. 

Meanwhile, South Africa’s most successful boxer Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler faces Wichet Sengprakhon from Thailand in the main bout in Saturday’s tournament. 

This is keep-busy fight for the 34-year-old Budler, who is looking at challenging World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) junior-flyweight champion Kenshiro ‘The Amazing’ Teraji in August.
