Xaba Promotions boss Ayanda Matiti has denied that he’s taking his next boxing tournament to Sun City, Rustenburg, in the North West province.

Ink Sport has been informed that the tournament, which is going to be headlined by a vacant IBF International junior-bantamweight clash between Phumelela ‘The Truth’ Cafu and Mexican boxer Rosendo Hugo Guarneros Gonzalez, is set for Saturday, 27 May.

“I know nothing about that. I have not made any announcement regarding the venue and date of the tournament,” the award-winning East London-based promoter said.

Cafu will go to battle with Gonzalez on the back of a split decision victory over reigning South African flyweight champion Jackson ‘M3’ Chauke in a non-title bout at the Orient Theatre in East London last December. The 24-year-old Cafu from Duncan Village in East London has registered eight wins with seven knockouts and three draws.

Meanwhile, Gonzalez stopped Frenchman Loic Tajan in Nantes, France, in November last year. The 32-year-old former IBF Intercontinental flyweight champion has won 20 fights (10 stoppages), lost five and drew twice.
