The South African Boxing Awards are back on the fistic sport’s calendar following their launch in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday morning.
This is going to be the first time in more than three years that the awards make their return. The last SA Boxing Awards ceremony was held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg in 2019.
This year’s awards ceremony is going to be held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban on Friday, 30 June. Nominations are going to open on Monday and close 14 days later.
“It is great pleasure to announce that the most loved, most iconic, most dignified, most entertaining even in boxing history is back. The South African Boxing Awards are now officially back,” acting BSA chief executive officer Erick Nsikayezwe Sithole declared.
Meanwhile, only ring performances between 1 April 2022 and 31 March this year are going to be considered for the awards. All the nominees in the 16 categories are going to be announced later this month.
