Premiership side Cape Town City finally announced on Tuesday morning that their star striker Khanyisa Mayo had extended his stay at the club until 2028. 

Mayo has been a key member of the Citizens scoring vital goals for the club. He ended the 2022/23 season with 12 goals, becoming the joint top goalscorer with Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile. 

The 24-year-old Mthatha Mayo, who is the son of former Bay United, Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United and Mthatha Bucks forward Patrick Mayo, joined the Citizens from Richards Bay FC at the beginning of the 2021/22 season.
