Tete Dijana from North West province set a new course record when he won the down run of the Comrades Marathon fro. Pietermaritzburg to Durban on Sunday. 

Dijana, who clocked 5:13:58 improving the 5:18:19 record set by David Gatebe in 2016, has won back-to-back Comrades Marathon races having been the winner of last year’s up run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. 

After smashing the course record, the 35-year-old Dijana walked away with R1,2 million – R500 000 for or winning the race, R500 000 for breaking the course record and R200 000 for being the first South African to romp home.
