Zambia’s Chipolopolo have successfully defended their COSAFA Cup trophy following a 1-0 win over Lesotho in the final played at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban, on Sunday evening.

After a goalless first half, Chipolopolo broke the deadlock through Moyela Libamba whose quality header gave the Zambians their seventh COSAFA Cup trophy.

With the win, the Zambians have made Durban their happy hunting ground as they captured the COSAFA Cup trophy three times at the coastal city. It was in Durban where they also won the trophy in 2019 and 2022.

This was also Zambia’s first back-to-back COSAFA Cup triumph since they did the same in 1997 and 1998.
