It was a five-goal thriller as Lamontville Golden Arrows defeated Polokwane City 3-2 in a DStv Premiership clash at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammersdale on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors took the lead following Douglas Mapfumo’s well-taken goal in the 12th minute. Mapfumo controlled the ball nicely while marked by two Arrows defenders before unleashing a shot past Abafana Bes’thende goalminder Isima Watenga.

It took Abafana Bes’thende only one minute to quickly reply through Nduduzo Sibiya after Rise n Shine goalkeeper Lindokuhle Mathebula had failed to handle the ball.

Nine minutes later, Abafana Bes’thende’s Lungelo Nguse made it 2-1 after he received a cross from Angelo van Rooi. And Themba Mantshiyane headed in past Mathebula to extend Arrows’ lead in the 39th minute.

The Limpopo club pulled one back to make it 3-2 following Lebogang Nkaki’s header eight minutes into the second half.
