After ‘sneaking’ out of South Africa to go fight in Tanzania last month, former world champion Simphiwe ‘V12’ Vetyeka is returning to the East African country for yet another bout.

Vetyeka, who is licensed by Boxing South Africa (BSA) as a trainer, has a date with Tanzanian boxer Ibrahim Class Mgender in Dar-Es-Salaam in just over three weeks’ time.

This fight follows after the erstwhile World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion lost on points to Abeig Zugo whose real name is Abeid Kessy Kasongo in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, last month.

“I’m going back to Tanzania for my fight which is going to be on the 27th of January,” the former South African and IBO bantamweight champion, who is licensed as a boxer in Tanzania, said.

Before losing to Zugo, the 43-year-old Vetyeka hadn’t fought since his eighth round knockout victory over former SA lightweight champion Thompson Mokwana in April 2018.

Meanwhile, Mgender is the same boxer who was stopped in the seventh round by Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile in a then vacant IBF Intercontinental junior-lightweight title fight at East London’s Orient Theatre in December 2018.
