With Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha having relocated from East London to Johannesburg, his manager Thembelani ‘Shakes’ Hlombe has revealed that the Mdantsane-born boxer will still be promoted by Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP).

The former South African junior-flyweight champion’s last two fights were promoted by RAP and Tewo Promotions. He lost to Malawian George Kandulo at a RAP tournament at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in July last year.

And Tyirha defeated Filipino boxer Orlie Silvestre in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental junior-flyweight title contest at the same venue in a Tewo Promotions show in October 2022.

“Nothing has changed. The move to Johannesburg does not change the fact that we will still work with Rumble Africa. We will first speak to Rumble Africa should another promotional company want to use Tyirha,” Hlombe said.

Tyirha moved to Johannesburg on Tuesday and has since joined forces with former SA bantamweight champion Phumzile Matyhila as his new trainer. Tyirha was until December last year trained by former World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion Simphiwe Vetyeka at the Paradise Boxing Club in Nxarhuni.
