Failure to come to an agreement between the camp of Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini and Bob Arum’s Top Rank has resulted in the South African boxer’s fight against Arnold Khegai from Ukraine going for a purse bid.

Dlamini, who is rated number two in the featherweight division by the International Boxing Federation (IBF), is due for an elimination bout with Khegai for the right to challenge champion Luis Lopez from Mexico.

Already, Dlamini’s trainer and manager Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan has written to IBF championship chairman Carlos Ortiz Junior giving him the go ahead to proceed with purse bid.

“Top Rank and I couldn’t come to an agreement. I have informed Top Rank that we won’t accept the offer. I’ve emailed the IBF and have copied Top Rank to proceed with the purse bid,” Nathan said.

Initially, Dlamini had signed to face off against Tomoki ‘The Little Mexican’ Kameda in Japan last month. However, things changed after Dlamini agreed to clash with Khegai, who is based in Los Angeles, United States of America.

Dlamini registered a split decision victory over Kameda from Osaka in a 12 rounds bout at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, in October last year.
